Bays Cycle Challenge – Sunday 31st January 2021
Event Information
The Famous Grouse Bays Cycle Challenge will see the peloton leave McCormacks Bay Reserve, with the peleton led out for the first 1.5km until the lights outside New World Redwood. Here the lead vehicle will pull away and the racing will begin.
With the King and Queen of the Pass decided at the top of Evans Pass the pace will be on from the start. After Evans Pass riders will make their way into Lyttleton and on through to. Governors Bay, Charteris Bay, Diamond Harbour turning at the NPD. Then returning to Teddington, where you will go over Gebbies Pass through to Tai Tapu and on to Lincoln. The finish is outside the Famous Grouse Hotel.
With passing through all the bays in Lyttleton Harbour there will be a few challenges throughout and make for some great racing especially through all the age groups. Plus the ride will give all the weekend warriors some fun racing, racing their mates and heaps of bragging rights afterwards at The Famous Grouse Hotel.
The race has an elevation of 1398 metres over the 70km.

Prize Giving
Prize giving will beat The Famous Grouse Hotel. We are expecting this to be 12:30pm being 20-30 minutes after the last competitor.
We have some fantastic spot prizes plus first, second, and third in each category. All prize winners must be present to receive both category and spot prizes as well as prize money.

King and Queen of the Pass $100
We will be having the Clydesdale and Clydesdalesses categories for 100kg plus males and 75kg plus females along with the Cancer survivor category. These categories are not age group specific.
